The Abaco Hurricane Shelter & Community Centre Building was developed to provide a safe, resilient, and multifunctional facility for the residents of Central Pines and surrounding communities. Designed to serve as both an emergency hurricane shelter and a year-round community centre, the project plays a critical role in strengthening disaster preparedness, community resilience, and public safety.
Following the devastating impact of major hurricanes throughout The Bahamas, there was an urgent need for modern infrastructure capable of with standing severe weather conditions while also serving the every day needs of the community. The project required careful coordination, durable construction solutions, and efficient project execution to ensure the facility met both emergency preparedness standards and long-term community needs
